AudioSoft Launches New Law Enforcement Audio Surveillance Recorder

AudioPC–LE, Simple user interface drives feature rich covert surveillance solution

AudioSoft announces the launch of AudioPC–LE, a digital recorder designed for Law Enforcement audio surveillance applications. AudioPC–LE was developed in response to an operational requirement that exists within UK Police Forces, for a multi–channel digital audio recorder for use in long–term recording sessions such as surveillance applications. AudioPC–LE conforms to the specifications devised by technical and operational officers in conjunction with the Home Office Police Scientific Development Branch (PSDB).

AudioPC–LE has been designed for applications where there is a police requirement for simultaneous recording of up to 4 channels of input with live monitoring, whilst providing a further 4 channels to allow the replay of previously recorded audio material without interrupting the recording process. Recordings are stored on a hard disk buffer, and then automatically archived onto two DVD–R disks to provide both master and working copies. All recordings are 128 bit encrypted and time/date stamped for evidential purposes. Confirmation is provided that both DVD–R’s contain a faithful copy of the audio contained within the buffer.

AudioPC–LE is supplied in a robust industrial 19" rack mount PC and is supplied together with a rack mount audio mixer unit and an audio interface. The common and intuitive interface (GUI) allows users to very quickly master both the operation of covert recording, live monitoring as well as search and replay of existing recordings without recourse to extended training sessions. Typically a new user can be proficiently and confidently recording within minutes of starting the recorder.

AudioPC–LE supports simultaneous playback of data whilst in live monitoring mode. Sophisticated data base searches ensure local recordings are easily and quickly located. AudioPC–LE can be used in conjunction with AudioSoft’s AudioWord software to provide a cost effective and easy to use PC based transcription system. Client licenses allow recordings to be replayed from any DVD Rom equipped multimedia device such as a notebook computer. Further AudioSoft SmartAdditions products can be added to enhance functionality and provide assessment and training solutions.

“AudioPC–LE represents significant operational benefits to Police Constabularies” commented Chris Brill, Managing Director of AudioSoft. “The ability to search and replay whilst continually recording, the ease of archiving and other benefits associated with digital solutions over traditional analog offerings considerably expand the operational range of possibilities.” commenting further he stated “We are confident that once the capabilities of AudioPC–LE are fully recognized the range of recorder applications can be extended to other enforcement applications such as Ports Authorities, Custom & Excise and other similar authorities.”
