AudioSoft Improves ATC Recording Quality at Banja Luka

AudioSoft recently supplied Banja Luka Airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a fully redundant ATC 64–channel digital ATC communications recorder which included a 4–channel playback system. The system installed replaced a 20–year-old magnetic track tape system which was providing very poor quality of recordings and was in need of urgent replacement.

Tomislav Marinkovic of the Republic of Srpska Civil Aviation Department said “This is one of the main reasons for changing to a digital solution” he described the AudioSoft system as having “a very good recording quality”.

In addition to a management station a full GPS clock solution was also supplied. In total ten slave clocks were installed around the ATC tower and offices which included receivers and antenna and AudioSoft’s SmartClock software to provide accurate time control. This solution enables AudioSoft recorders to synchronizes with external time sources to ensure accuracy of the time stamping of recorded data. As a result highly accurate investigations of incidents can be undertaken.

After the system was successfully installed with “Good coordination and cooperation with the AudioSoft Project Manager” AudioSoft provided three days of comprehensive and professional training for the users. Mr. Marinkovic commented “The course that took place at the airport covered all of our needs regarding operating and maintenance of the VRS. We had an excellent teacher.”
