Dubai International Airport Chooses to Record Comms with AudioSoft

AudioSoft has been selected after a full technical and commercial evaluation to supply two AudioPC recorders to the ATC tower and Ground Operations at Dubai International Airport (DIA). The equipment to be supplied are a 68 and 40 channel recording system respectively, which feature fully redundant digital recorder/playback systems incorporating DVD RAM archiving.

The AudioPC–2068 recorder met all of DIA technical requirements in addition to meeting the Air Traffic Safety Requirements of ICAO. Both AudioPC recording systems utilize Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) PCs which maximize whole life operational costs. The ATC recording system is capable of recording both voice and radar data with simultaneous replay of both through a selection of 6 channels for Air Accident investigations. The AudioPC–2040 Ground Operations system is connected to a Mitel telephone exchange and is used to monitor and record all operational communications within the airport.

AudioSoft won the contract after providing the most advantageous and complete proposal and as a result of strong existing customer endorsements. The new recording equipment will be delivered in early January 2003 and replaces old analog equipment that was no longer reliable or supported by the previous supplier.
