Air Traffic Control User Forum 2006

Two UK ATC User Forum and training sessions were held on the 3rd October in Nottingham, and 5th October in Bristol. These events included hands on training in both AudioPC and AudioPC-ATC - our aviation specific user interface, as well as input from users and air traffic safety industry representatives.

Experienced (and also some novice) AudioPC-ATC users from both civil and military organizations were given refresher training, with tips on efficient use of AudioPC’s recording, replay, archiving, and transcription functions, as well as demonstrations of its extended functionality in radar recording and replay - giving a complete surveillance and incident reconstruction capability.

We were pleased on both days to host David Roots and Tom Perry of the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s Safety Regulation Group who gave presentations entitled (respectively): ‘The Role of the CAA Transcription Unit’, and ‘Recording and Replay Requirements for CNS / ATM under a Single European Sky’. The role of the SRG is to develop the UK’s world-class aviation safety environment in partnership with industry, by driving continuous improvements in aviation safety both in the UK and in partnership with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), across Europe.

Useful feedback into the continuous development process of AudioSoft’s systems was collected, and the diversity of attendees ensured that valuable networking time was used efficiently: All giving tangible benefits in terms of increasing audio and radar recording efficiency plus increased operational awareness across the UK Air Traffic industry.
