AudioSoft Wins Top Export Award

(Source: UK Trade & Investment (South West), Friday 31st March 2006).

Cirencester company Audiosoft, has won a top export award from UK Trade & Investment.

At the inaugural Passport to Export Awards in Wotton-under-Edge last night the company, which supplies digital recording solutions, was named as the Gloucestershire New Exporter of the Year.

The awards celebrated the success of South West companies that have taken part in UKTI’s Passport to Export scheme, the flagship program which provides training and support for new and fledgling exporters.

Audiosoft, which joined Passport to Export in 2004, has used the scheme to refocus their international trade development within the Air Traffic Control, Law Enforcement, Defense, and Commercial markets, rationalizing their agency network.

Having established themselves in key European markets, they are continuing to open up new markets and grow sales around the world, including the Middle East, South America and North Africa. UKTI staff in a number of Embassies have been used to establish and leverage contacts to help Audiosoft’s research and tendering activity.

Competition for the company is generally large US companies, but despite having only 38 employees, Audiosoft finds itself well able to compete and is now exporting to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Graham Symonds, who nominated the company for the award, said:

“Audiosoft shows the Passport to Export scheme working at its best. The company benefited from advice and support, funding to take part in international trade shows and market research into potential new markets. They tapped into the resources available both through our team locally and overseas and have really used the whole package of support available to adopt a strategic focus to international trade. I’m delighted that Audiosoft’s success has been recognized with this award.“

Neil Mattingley, Sales and Marketing Executive at Audiosoft, said:

“Within the international market for digital recording systems, the assistance and in-country knowledge that UKTI provide to SMEs like AudioSoft is proving invaluable. Graham Symonds, his colleague Mary Little and the team are vital links in the chain that enables us to successfully compete and integrate with larger players in sectors including defense and air traffic control. We look forward to continued co-operation with the team in the push into new markets.”

Neil was presented with a certificate, bouquet and a hamper of West Country produce by Brian Kemp, Chair, South West International Business Forum.

The Passport to Export Awards ceremony took place at Tortworth Court, near Wotton-under-Edge and featured entertainment from the world music organization, WOMAD.
