AudioSoft announce new suite of time saving data analysis and location tools

Data Miner

AudioSoft, specialist supplier of evidential audio and video recorders for interview, covert and hostage and siege requirements, is offering a suite of tools to allow rapid identification of important data. The tools include voice detection, automated speaker independent transcription, key word spotting and speaker identification.

AudioSoft’s unique voice detection system identifies speech within noisy data with high levels of accuracy. It is an invaluable and timesaving tool in the rapid identification of small amounts of speech that can be found in surveillance recordings. It is the result of a four year development program and is specifically designed to operate with data recorded in noisy environments.

AudioSoft’s DataMinerPC product is a high speed speech to text transcribing engine for use with AudioSoft recorders. This system will give the user a textual transcript of their audio files, which can be printed, archived, indexed or integrated utilizing XML format interfacing. From this format indexes may be automatically generated, allowing the user to search for any file combination that contain targeted search terms such as words, phrases, people, organizations, locations dates or times.

The targeting of human resources at files of prime relevance and importance is imperative particularly if stringent time constraints are applied. In some scenarios, audio quality may be so poor that human ears may be the most efficient tool for transcription. However if there is a large volume of data to be analyzed and limited time and resources are available, an effective strategy may be to pre-scan the audio data with DataMinerPC thereby allowing human operators to perform listening and transcribing of those files which have indicated that they are most likely to contain information of interest, whether that is key words, volume of text or some other indicator.

In relation to recordings taken during a recent covert operation in which an organized crime syndicate members were arrested and millions of pounds worth of drugs and cash were seized, a Detective Inspector commented: “Throughout the long investigation AudioSoft equipment worked faultlessly, enabling me to make informed tactical decisions to achieve maximum benefit. …It is without doubt that the excellent result achieved was built upon the superb functioning of your equipment both in clarity and reliability”.

Chris Twemlow, AudioSoft’s Business Development Manager, commented “We wanted to provide our customers with tools to allow them to rapidly identify important data. We believe that the voice detection and automated transcription tools are extremely powerful and can greatly reduce operational time required to locate important data. The new software will work with files produced from all of our recorders including our covert recorders, interview recorders and Hostage and Siege Recorders.”
